Jacksonville Zoo and GardensThe Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens sprawl across 110 acres at the mouth of the Trout River. The zoo is home to over 2,000 exotic animals and 1,500 plant species. In part of its mission to act as "responsible stewards of our plant Earth," the zoo is active in animal conservation, participating in over 20 Species Survival Plans.

The zoo's largest exhibit is "Range of the Jaguar," featuring, you guessed it, jaguars. Currently home to eight jaguars, in terms of animals it is the largest jaguar exhibit in North America. While roaming through the range, you'll find Central and South American reptiles and amphibians like anacondas, caiman lizards and poison dart frogs. Sloths, monkeys, anteaters and birds like macaws, cuckoos and herons can also be spotted.

The Jacksonville Zoo has an exhibit that features Florida wildlife in the wetlands. "Wild Florida" features American alligator, American black bear, red wolves, Florida panthers, white-tail deer, otters, bobcats and bald eagles.

Other exhibits you will find at the Jacksonville Zoo are "Great Apes of the World," "Australian Adventure," "African Plains," "Stingray Bay," "Asian Bamboo Garden and Komodo Dragon" and the botanical gardens, "Savannah Blooms" and "Gardens of the Trout River Plaza."
